as an artist, i'm constantly looking through new mediums of work to find ones that provoke thought. that's what good art does: it makes you think.
so this past week, i was reminded of piece of literature that i wanted to share with you all because of it's relevance...
"i'm sorry to say so but, sadly, it's true
that bang ups and hang ups can happen to you.
you can get all hung up in a prickle-ly perch.
and your gang will fly on.
you'll be left in the lurch.
you'll come down from the lurch with an unpleasant bump.
and the chances are, then, that you'll be in a slump.
and when you're in a slump, you're not in for much fun.
un-slumping yourself is not easily done.
you will come to a place where the streets are not marked
some windows are lighted. but mostly they're darked
a place you could sprain both your elbow and chin!
do you dare to stay out? do you dare to go in?...
you can get so confused that you'll start in to race
down long wiggled roads at a break-necking pace
and grind on for miles across weirdish wild space
headed, i fear, toward a most useless place.
the waiting place."
we all know what it is...we've all been there...and maybe you're there now..
but i have to disagree with the good doctor on one issue... i don't think the waiting place is a "useless place"....
this year i've been using "my utmost for his highest" by oswald chambers as study guide and i read this past week about how God is sometimes "narrowing us in until He gets us alone." because it's when we're alone with Him that He can tell us things we need to hear...granted, we may not be completely gung-ho to take action on whatever that is. in fact, we might be kicking and screaming against what He's saying...but nonetheless...He knows when we're in a place to hear..and He certainly knows when it's the right season to plant ideas and desires....
and that's when the waiting place becomes "the learning place"...."the growing place"...."the healing place"..."the closure place"....
and "oh...the places you'll go" from there.....
